Boston: Can Or Do PH Strips Determine the Sex Or Gender of a Baby? I"ll Tell You

Boston,

The other day, I received an email which asked me if PH testing strips determine your baby’s sex or gender.  There was really no other information, so I began to explain that there are several things that go into determining the gender of the baby that was conceived, including timing of intercourse (as it relates to ovulation), the acidity or PH of the mother to be, and the intercourse positions that you use while you are ovulating. The writer responded that she didn’t mean that the strips came into play before ovulation. She wanted to know if you could use them after to determine if you are having a daughter or a son.  I will discuss this more in the following article.

The PH Strips Really Are Better Suited For Use Before Conception Occurs:  There are some old wives tales which indicate that you can take your PH after you are already pregnant to predict if you’ll have a boy or a girl. The theory goes that if your PH is low, then you’ll have a son and that if it’s high you will have a daughter.  I don’t buy this, generally speaking. Because there are so many things that affect your PH and it also changes throughout the day depending on diet and other things.

Really, it’s much more advisable to use the strips as one tool in your regimen BEFORE you become pregnant. Once you are, you can easily get an ultrasound when the time is right to give you much more reliable information.  In truth, acidity and PH is one indication as to whether your body is (at least at that time) more likely to produce a girl baby or a boy baby.  Acidity is one way to look at this.

The reason for this is that the boy sperm thrive more in a low PH and the girl sperm thrive more in a high one.  So, if you wanted a girl and used the strips to determine that you were too low, you could make some changes in your diet and begin douching until you saw this raise. Likewise, if you wanted a boy and noticed that the strips showed that you were too high, you can then go on a regimen (through diet and / or douching) to lower this.  You would want to do this well before ovulation occurred.

However, if you are using this same method after the fact, the fate has already been sealed.  It really doesn’t matter what the strip is saying at that time. Gender has already been determined. Of course, guessing games like this are always fun to play.  It’s entertaining to try to figure out or determine what you are having.  But, the strips really only affect your baby’s gender when you use them properly before conception occurs.

Other Tools You May Want To Check Out Besides The Strips:  As I said, I really love this tool to keep on eye on your acidity.  But there’s another tool that I think is equally important and this is a good ovulation predictor and this is especially true if you want a girl baby or daughter.  The reasoning behind this is that you want to conceive as many as three days before ovulation if you want a girl (but you should not attempt to have intercourse on or after ovulation.)  However, most predictors will only tip you off once ovulation has already occurred.  Unfortunately, this ringing bell means that you have already missed the boat.

Saliva predictors begin to give a positive (or at least to show you changes) much earlier and while this is great and still an advantage if you want a boy, it’s absolutely vital if you want a girl.   I hope this article has shown you that many tools are important in this process, but they come into play before the fact – not after – and that’s especially true if you want the most accurate results.  In truth, I think the only tool that will really tell you what you are having after you are already pregnant is an ultrasound.
