Boston: How to Perform a Yeast Infection Test at Home

Boston,

Do you think you might have a yeast infection? There are several ways to tell such as common symptoms, visual signs, and you can also perform a yeast infection test right at home. Let’s take a look at the common symptoms of a yeast infection first.

There are many symptoms of a yeast infection but they are different in men and women. For women, they will have redness, burning and swelling of the vagina along with a thick white or yellow tinged discharge that will likely resemble cottage cheese. This discharge will have a strong and unpleasant odor. Women might also experience pain when urinating, pain during sex and overall will be uncomfortable in the vaginal area.

For men the symptoms are a bit different. It is not as easy to see the signs of a male yeast infection. Men will experience diarrhea, bloating, gas, jock itch, and pain when urinating. Men may also experience dry and flaky skin in the genital area along with pain during sexual activities.

There is a yeast infection home test that will tell you if you have a yeast infection or not right from the privacy of your own home. It is easy to do and will be a good indicator as to whether or not you are affected.

Before you go to bed at night, place a clean glass of water next to your bedside. Before you even get out of bed, spit into the cup two times. During the next 15 minutes, keep an eye on the water glass. If the spit dissolves and separates into the water, chances are you do not have a yeast infection. If however the water glass becomes murky or cloudy, appears to have stings coming from the spit, sinks and does not float or resembles a spider web that chances are you do have a yeast infection.

You should continue to watch the glass for another 15 minutes. If sediment appears at the bottom of your water glass then you might also have parasites. If you have parasites, those will need to be dealt with first and quickly. These things will be easily noticed so you don’t have to think maybe you have a yeast infection and maybe you don’t. The results will be quite clear from the yeast infection test that you perform at home.
