Ovulation test allows predicting the most fertile time of the month. As ovulation occurs once in a month, predicting ovulation accurately is very helpful to get pregnancy and as well to prevent it. Ovulation Test is specifically designed to detect your LH (Luteinizing Hormone) surge through urine testing. A small amount of LH is produced in the body normally. But during the middle of cycle, the level of LH increases, which is known as LH surge.

Collection of specimen:

This test is conducted on urine specimen. Urine specimen should be collected at same time every day during the menstrual cycle. Morning urine sample is not suitable for appropriate results. Sample should be collected in clean, dry container.

When to start testing:

This is the important aspect of testing. To know on which day of menstrual cycle, the test is started the length of menstrual cycle is to be determined. If cycle length is 21 days then on 5th day, testing should be started and if the length of cycle is 39 days then on 23rd day testing should be started.

How to test:

Remove the test device from the sealed pouch and use it as soon as possible. Procedure followed in conducting ovulation test is very easy to use and can be done without any other’s help. It involves just two steps, which are as follows-

1. Place the test device on a clean and level surface. Hold the dropper vertically and transfer 3 full drops of urine (approx. 100¼L) to the specimen well of the test device, and then start the timer.

2. Wait for the results to appear as per the instructions given. The result should be read at 5 minutes. Do not interpret the result after 10 minutes.

Ovulation test helps in confirming when ovulation occurs. The time of ovulation is the most important thing you should understand, since it is the determining factor in getting pregnancy and also in preventing it. If you are undergoing through medication, you should consult your doctor to confirm the results. This test will be helpful in tracking ovulation and to get a better idea of when pregnancy can and cannot occur during the month.
