Boston: Symptoms to Expect on Your Week 5 of Pregnancy

Boston,

On your week 5 of pregnancy, this may be the time when you’re wondering why your period is late. Grab a home pregnancy test kit from your local pharmacy to end the confusion! Because of the hormonal changes in your body, your breasts will feel swollen and tender as the milk glands start to multiply. You may notice that you feel hungry all the time and your appetite will most likely shift into high gear. Don’t worry about gaining weight, this is needed to make sure your baby gets all the necessary nutrients for his proper growth and development.

Other women experience morning sickness as early as 5 weeks. Morning sickness will eventually ease out as you go along with your pregnancy but some women will only feel relieved after they deliver. Just like with other symptoms, they may vary from woman to woman.

On your week 5 of pregnancy, fatigue will begin to kick in. You’re always exhausted even though there is really no change in your daily routine. All you need to do at this point is rest and eat!

Mood swings will also start on this week and the bad news is they will be hanging around for the next nine months or so. Some women though claim that they are not emotional at all and they do not have mood swings.

You would also notice that you are frequenting the bathroom more often on your week 5 of pregnancy. The reason behind this is the pregnancy hormone hCG which increases the blood flow to your pelvic area and your kidneys. This means that they are more efficient during pregnancy. There is really nothing you can do about it. Never cut back on your liquids because your body and you’re your baby need a sufficient and steady supply of fluids to stay hydrated all throughout the pregnancy. Skip the diuretics like caffeine (iced tea, coffee, etc.) because this can make you go to the bathroom more.
